How can I come up with a marketing strategy? What factors should be taken into consideration and how do I go about writing one? Does anyone know of any useful sites or templates that can help me get started? |

A Marketing strategy is a broad term used when assessing your business and understanding your target customer. To help you start you always have to figure out your 4 Cs (Context, Company, Customer, Competitors), once you have defined these 4 areas, then you can tackle your marketing strategy. You can always start with the 4Ps for marketing (Product, Price, Place, Promotion) to set your strategy. Then depending on the product you might have to focus on specific areas more than others. |

The best investment for you would be to buy Alexander Osterwalder's book "Business Model Design". Marketing strategy is covered in the broader context of the business model. Presentations and videos as well as papers from Alex are available on Slideshare, Youtube and on his Blog. If you are interested in product innovation have also a look at the work of Professor Roger Martin and read the Innovators Dilemma from Professor Clayton Christensen. |
