Which one would be better under what scenario ? Let's say I have the opportunity to get both, what happens if I fail under each scenario ? I just need a somewhat small amount of money for now but not sure which one is best for me.

It really depends on how soon you expect your company to become profitable. If soon and you only need a small amount of money, then I'd say go for a loan. This way you can keep full ownership of your company. If you don't think you can manage loan repayment from your company's revenues, then go for a combination of both.
