I've been blogging for a year now, I really enjoy it and don't want to stop doing it. I've got a fairly high amount of traffic on it. Given that I invest at least a daily couple hours - sometimes more - on it, it occurred to me that it would be interesting if I could monetize it. How should I go about monetizing it, and would it be worth it, knowing that 1- I'd like to do it in an "ethical" way (not using Google Adsense) 2- Online advertising in Lebanon is still very very poorly accepted... |

Hello Maya, I have already voted for this question! YES you should monetize it and there different ways monetizing a blog depending on its topic. Did you try to contact any companies that are categorized under the same topic of your blog in order to sponsor your blog? This method works well. Also you can write an e-book and sell it for $10-$15. It all depends on the topic and the content of your blog. share with me the URL of your blog and I will suggest some ideas you can use to monetize your blog! I also suggest you to try AdSense in different placement it sometimes works well and I don't think it has to do with ethics or anything! my ultimate advise for you and for every blogger is to start building a mail list from day 1! Hello Maya, Cool blog you got there, very nice illustrations! I realized that you already have your first book published, do you mind asking how did it go? I hope it went well. At a later stage you can create a 2nd edition of it and I think you should re-consider the outlets you are using to sell your book. Also, try to go with affiliates and hit bigger! I think your book is a GREAT sell, but you need to get affiliates on board! Away from the book, I think you can add a "Hire Me" tab to your blog where you can handle freelancing jobs. Another great option you can do is to have a paid area (like a forum or so) where you discuss are drawing and illustration issues with your fans and anybody who is interested in illustration and art in general, charge like $2-$3 a month and now you have a recurring income form this membership area! This is very easy to do btw, there are plugins and scripts that are available over the internet that can handle this issue for you! Try to sell affiliate products of others that are related to your industry. For example if you find any product that has an affiliate option, just subscribe to it and review it on your blog for your readers you will generate good bunch of money by telling people about new products in the market! One last thing, I think you should give AdSense a go! Try it out and change its placements and formats every now and then till you reach to a level where you generate good amount of money out of it!
