What are the distribution channels ? Should I partner with someone like Info2Cell or do directly to an operator, or use my online website/brand to push for my apps ? What is the best way in your experience ?

Also what about pricing and the amount I would keep in using each of those options ?

I am targeting mass phones such as Nokia and such (J2ME apps)

Hello Samir,

You have various options to choose from depending on your application itself and your capabilities. You can either go through a service provider like Info2Cell or go directly to the operator or you can promote it at your own without going back to the operator (this only works if you want to distribute it for FREE).

If I was in your shoes, I will be distributing it for free and try to get a sponsor on it! I believe that you don't have to charge the end-user since we are in a phase that if you don't give out your product for free people can easily find a replacement, therefore I think you should try to allocate potential sponsors and reach a deal with them to sponsor your application!

To increase the number of downloads, a WAP Push technique works great in this area where a service provider or the operator itself can help you over here, plus promoting it in different local forums and portals would be a real supporter as well!

Please let me know if you need any further help :)

Best

I would make sure you have a grasp on how to protect your ideas. Have you learned about intellectual property rights or consulted an ip attorney? The world of apps is a strong market and very competitive, so I understand the importance of striking while it is hot.

If you go the free route and receive sponsorship, like Steitiyeh mentioned, you will probably receive more protection then going out on your own.
