How big are Smart Phones (iPhone, Android, Nokia/Ovi) in the Middle East ?

We've been working in the mobile content space for five years now and the bad news is the operator deck is still by far the strongest 'app store' in our region. In terms of smartphone segmentation, as Steityeh pointed out the players aren't sharing the data but from our observation I'd say the market is as follows:

• Nokia remains the dominant platform in terms of market share. This is by far the 'mass market' platform of the Middle East. Ovi, on the other hand, is new and has very limited Arabic content offering. People are used to getting their content from their operators so Nokia has its work cut out. We'll see how that works out this year!
• Blackberry handsets come second, I would say. This is due to the wide operator support for the Blackberry offering, the strong support of the regional distributor/services provider, and IMHO, because of BBM! :)
• Iphones come next - you'll get mixed messages about uptake from the operators, but then again they're not jumping hoops at the App Store cutting away their content revenue. They are happy about high data usage though!
• Androids have limited uptake in the Middle East - I recently saw ads from STC supporting the platform but I think Google was reluctant to support the region initially. They'll need to make an extreme effort to dent the current smartphone market.
