How can you find angel investors and how do you approach them ? Any tips to share ? I've heard of some angel groups but also see most startups get money from angel individuals ...

I guess the best way is to be where they are. Angel investors tend to work as a network, meaning they know each others and they tend to share the risk with each other when they find a good startup. So typically the best way is to move to where they are.. events, communities and even knocking on their doors. Once you know one he starts to put you in the network. I remember the first hop for me was through techwadi event in San Francisco, and everything opened then. you need to move and do not just rely on online activities only.

Have a look on sites like crunchboard.com - you'll see which investors are active in various different regions around the world. You should also register for thefunded.com - they have some good articles up there.

If you're a member of LinkedIn, you can do a search for Angel Investors that's specific to your country or region. You won't always get the best results in the world, but I have connected with several interesting people as a result of LinkedIn searches. There are also lots of LinkedIn groups that focus on Angel Investment and Startup funding. Be wary of some of the people in there though - don't give away too much info!

Have a look at what Jason Calacanis is doing with the Open Angel Forum (http://openangelforum.com/). They recently had their first event in California, and they're expanding worldwide quite rapidly. They're looking for startups from all over the world. You might have to travel to Europe or the US to pitch in the early stages, but I would not be surprised to see Open Angel chapters in the UAE and Lebanon before too long. They are a lot better than Investment Networks and companies presenting themselves as angels - these are the people who charge you an upfront fee to present and take a %age of any money raised. Be very wary of these guys.

Look for local business angel networks, talk to people like Kuv Capital (in Lebanon), look out for seed stage competitions like TechStars, Y Combinator, Berytech's recent incubation awards and more. It's tough going, but it will be worth it when you get your funding!
