As in the title, if so, what the best thing to do about the content? 1. hire writers and pay them on monthly basis? 2. the same but pay by article? 3. as a start, what if I purchased the news/images from something like AP or BBC?

what do you think? and do you have any idea about the range of money that would be sufficient for a freelance writer or a part-time one?

thank you

When kicking off a news website, keeping a smooth flow of original useful content is a big challenge. And hiring people to provide this content can be great idea, but it's very important to take your time scouting for people who are not only interested in making money, but has the passion and competence in the chosen niche.

You will be approached by many people that are welling to provide the content for you, but you need to concentrate about the quality. So a good approach (that i tried) is to run into a test period with those content providers so you can make sure of the content they provide. You will have to try many people, and you will fail to find the good ones in the beginning, but eventually you will find them.

As for the payment, i think it depends on how big your website is. So you can start with hiring part time content providers and pay them per article. Then if you can hire a full time one, go for it.

It depends on the quality you're looking for, and how content-specific it is.

For very basic writing that's not about a certain topic, you could use Crowdflower to pay people to submit articles.

If you need more specific topics, maybe you want to start writing and then bring others on board?

Finally, perhaps there are some blogs on the subject your site will be about - could you get in touch with bloggers who already write about that subject and use their content?
