The situation: The problem: The questions: About me:
About three years ago I came from Germany to UAE. As a Webdeveloper with 10 years experience in the online development domain (7 from them Germany) I noticed that the MENA region is potentially growing; actually I notice the same development pattern as we had it in Germany in 2000: booming. |

Thank you, Omar. Thanks for the detailed reply. The MVP is what I'm currently working on. The thing is: a MVP can never be as good as a alpha/beta. The more detailed I wish to be with the prototype - in order to be able to convince potential capital angels-, the longer I'd need. Anyways, once a light version of the prototype is completed I'm sure I can get some financial support. But where can I start searching for people who might invest in MENA start-ups? Is there an online forum? What good does being first in a domain, if 2nd and 3rd will copy and claim to be first with some sort of patented app?! You suggest I should rely on the image only? And thanks for the hosting advice. No need so far, as I'll mostly go for mediatemple or rackspace-alike hoster. And I mentioned the professional team I need just to point out that I need a budget for them as well. So if the budget is there I'm sure I'd hire quite a few pros. Have a nice weekend. Faissal |

The problem: No money, No time , no team (I need professionals to assist), no environment/equipment. What do you need to build your minimum viable product (MVP)? What's the simplest thing you can build to prove that your idea has traction? I'd say focus on that to see what needs to be done and try and release that simple product first. I think that with a simple product online, it'll become much easier to raise some angel capital and meet developers. You'll get better terms when raising any capital if you have a basic prototype. i think things will be even better if your MVP is profitable. Protecting and patenting your idea is another domain; I personally would focus more on executing and being the first-mover in your market instead of getting legal rights to that idea. I think it's more about the execution than the idea. I'm not sure what you need, but I'd be more than willing to get you some hosting space in the short term if that would help. I also work with a few web developers on the side; shoot me a message with more information and let's see if we can make something happen. I'm omar.bohsali@gmail.com. |
