Social web is a concept of how people interact on the web like using Facebook. Web 2.0 however, is the web applications that allow this interaction and helps facilitate the social web communication.

Web 2.0 is all about Social Web or in other words "socializing online". In my opinion, there's no difference.

I agree with Elie that Web 2.0 is all about adding the Social Factor to a product. But I think that the difference between them that Web 2.0 covers any web or portal that has interaction and socialization between the users, but Social Media is limited to Blogging and All social networks.

My point is that Social Media is a part of Web 2.0!

Hi all,

I think web 2.0 is a set of technologies, one of them is social web. I think a "social site" is where a user enter/upload content such as social networking sites, in contrast to the "previous" vision of the internet where as only the company behind the site enters all the data...
